- Size?: I am interested in a swim platform for my 2004 Larson sei 180 boat could you give me the size and dimensions of the swim platform?
Answer: All of our platforms are custom made. We can make it any size, shape, or color that you desire.
- Cost?: What is the cost for a swim platform?
Answer: The cost is about $75.00 / sq foot. That includes the mounting hardware for a ladder. OR $95.00 / sq ft installed (min. $400) (at my shop in Spokane, Washington). Ladder included with purchase of 20 sq .ft. platform.
- Cost? Are your prices competitive?
Answer: At Contemporary Fiberglass we will beat ANYONE's published / quoted price by 10% for an EXACT duplicate platform.
(Shape, style, color, options, materials and method of manufacturing may vary.) We are dedicated to building our reputation one customer at a time and you are the reason for our success!
- Fit?: How do I know that I'm going to get exactly the platform that I have pictured in my mind?
Answer: Since your new swim platform will be custom made, it will fit exactly. We will simply need a template from you for the back of your boat indicating where you want to mount it. Exact instructions for how to do this will be given to you when you order your swim platform. This insures a perfect fit to every boat.
- Fit?: Will the platform fit without altering it?
Answer: I send you pictures showing you the progress that we've made on your platform. In this way you: 1) See the quality that goes into the construction, 2) feel comfortable in the progress and conformance to schedule and 3) Ensure that I am making the platform to your specifications. You will see photos of the finished platform before it is shipped eliminating surprises when it arrives at your door.
- Installation?: What about the installation? Will it be difficult? Do you have instructions to install the platform? If you do, can you email me a copy?
Answer: The install is not normally difficult. The ease of installation will depend on how much room you have to work with on the INSIDE of the transom. Again, we will provide you with detailed instructions once the platform is ordered.
- Installation/Hardware?: How does your hardware compare to that of your competitors?
Answer: If you do some research, you will find that my installation package is unsurpassed. While they smash the ends of their SS support rods and drill holes in them, I give you specially designed brackets that hold the SS rods. This gives you more flexibility in the installation and is a significantly stronger application. Also, for most of their platforms they offer two support rods. The minimum number (except on platforms less than 16 sq ft) of support rods I provide is four! It is over engineered sure, but I like my customers to feel no flex at all while standing on the platform.
- Gel Coat?: Do you offer two-tone Gel coat?
Answer: That would not be a problem since again, it is a custom built platform. We normally do not use gel coat but we can if the customer orders it.
- Color?: Will the Coating match my colors?
Answer: We can match anything as long as you provide a color chip. Keep in mind that if your boat's gel coat is faded, even if the color match is perfect, they will look a bit different.
- Vents?: Are vents necessary for water drainage or air pressure relief?
Answer: When we first started making platforms over ten years ago, we thought they needed vents. However, through first hand experience and customer feedback and comments from other manufactures, I am convinced that they are not necessary. Some customers like the look of them or use them for hand grabs so we offer them as an add on, but functionally they are not necessary.
- Shipping?: Can it be shipped to my home at zip code XXXXX? If so, how much?
Answer: Yes, it will be shipped about 2 weeks after we receive the template and build specs from you. Shipping and handling will depend on size, weight, and destination. It can vary from between $200.00 to $600.00. Ordering a SeaDek pad can add as much as 4 weeks to your delivery time. Call or write for an exact quote on shipping costs for your swim platform. *Note: Platforms ordered during 'peak' season (Feb.-May & Sept.-Nov.) could take up to 4 weeks for delivery.
- Shipping/Ordering?: Is there a "best" time to order?
Answer: YES, the best time to order is the off season (Jan, June, July, Dec). The lead times are much better.
- Performance?: Does the platform ever drag in the water from being too big?
Answer: We primarily make "full size" platforms. Many people ask this question as they are concerned, especially when getting up on plane, that the big platform will drag. We did a professional photo shoot, on my boats, to photograph and video the platform from rest to 'on plane'. At no time did the platform drag in the water. I've NEVER had a customer come back and report this problem. I am confident in saying, "No, it won't be a problem."
